Upon landing at Lake Turkana Airport of Lodwar, you will be picked by our safari driver guide and a representative from Focus East Africa Tours and after a short briefing about the safari you will head for a visit the Central Island national park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Sibiloi national park on the northeast shore of Lake Turkana.
Central Island is accessed on a boat cruise on Lake Turkana.
Central Island national park is a unique triple volcano poking gauntly out of the water, most of this island is taken by 2 crater lakes – the third one has dried up and they are hidden behind its rocky shores. One of these lakes is known for being the only habitat of an ancient species of tilapia and acts as a reminder of the time when Lake Turkana was connected to the River Nile.
The island is the nesting ground for big colonies of water birds such as Africa Galapagos, reptiles with large numbers of crocodiles. Vegetation on this island comprises of overgrown lees with thick grass and bushes.
After exploring the park, you will get a boat ride back to the shores of Lake Turkana and head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Have breakfast and head to the Turkana village for a full day of mingling with the local Turkana people, these people are the main people living on the western shores of Lake Turkana. The Turkana people have very little contact with the outside world. During your visit, you will be able to witness the different and unique life style of the local Turkana people, dressing code and others. Traditionally the Turkana women wear several tiers of beads around their necks and if married a metal band too, Turkana Men are rarely seen without their akichalong, a small wooden headrest like a stool on which they recline at any opportunity. Upto today, may Turkanas still wear a wide bracelet on their wrists called an Aberait which is a in fact a weapon, although it is usually covered with a leather guide.
You will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the Masai people and witness the circumcision ceremonies. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

On the 4th day of your 5 days Lake Turkana culture and great migration safari, Have early breakfast and head to the endless plains of Masai Mara national reserve for a full day of game drive and following the migration herds taking part in the Great wildebeest migration, on this day you will participate in morning and afternoon game drive with pick lunch.
During the game drives, you will also be able to spot several wildlife species such as lions, leopards, Masai giraffes, gazelles, elands, warthogs, rhinos, elephants among others. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
